City Council Approves Source of Income Non-Discrimination Bill

In an effort to even the playing field and provide equitable access to housing for all citizens, Councilwoman Kniech (with the endorsement of over 18 Denver organizations (including All In), proposed a bill to protect tenants from source of income discrimination.

The ordinance was approved by city council Monday, August 6th with vote of 11-2, and will charge landlords a penalty of $5,000 for rejecting tenants solely based on their source of income, including public housing assistance, social security, veteran's benefits and more.
