Wednesday, August 8th the SafeHouse committee was presented with the final plan for the MJ-DHA Affordable Housing Bond that would increase recreational marijuana sales taxes by 2%, dedicating the additional income to the Affordable Housing Fund. It would also call for the PAYGO annual AHF contribution to $7 million a year.
Along with this, a bond would be created with the Denver Housing Authority totaling about $105 million to go toward creation, maintenance, and acquisition of affordable housing units.
The proposal will now be presented at a public city council hearing Monday, August 27 at 5:30PM in the city council chambers. Learn more about the MJ-DHA Affordable Housing Surge here.
