RTD To Decide On Low Income and Youth Fare Discounts

The RTD Pass Program Working Group first convened in March of 2017 with the goal to evaluate and optimize the current RTD fare system. The group consists of RTD employees as well as community members representing municipalities, schools, and more.

The group has since come up with a recommendation that will result in making the RTD transit system more accessible for youth and low-income families by providing a 40% fare discount to those at or below 185% of the federal poverty line as well as a youth pass that would provide a 70% fare discount for age 13-19, and no fare for accompanied minors under the age of 12 years.

There will be various meetings open to the public throughout the month of July to further explore the fare discount proposition, and a decision will be made early next year. You can learn more about the RTD Pass Program Proposal and action steps toward advocating for this important measure here.
